A Scientific Seminar Dedicated to the 85th Anniversary of Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Arif Taghiyev, Was Held

A scientific seminar dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy, Arif Taghiyev, was held at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology of Baku State University (BSU). The seminar was attended by the dean, vice-deans, department heads, and faculty members. Dean of the faculty Rovshan Javadov opened the seminar, congratulated Arif Taghiyev on the occasion of his jubilee, and highly praised his scientific and pedagogical activity.
Afterwards, a video presentation prepared by the Vice-Dean for Social Affairs and Student Relations, Nezaket Karimova. The video included detailed information about Arif Taghiyev’s life and professional career. During the seminar, Vice-Dean for Scientific Affairs of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology, Gızılgül Abbasova, Head of the Department of History of Philosophy and Culturology, Rabiat Aslanova, Head of the Department of Social Work, Uzeyir Shafiyev, and Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology, Hormat Javadova, congratulated Arif Taghiyev on his anniversary.
Later, the Head of the Department of Philosophy, Kamala Panahova, delivered a speech providing detailed information about Arif Taghiyev’s scientific and pedagogical activity. She noted that he teaches key specialty subjects at both undergraduate and graduate levels and is the author of textbooks such as “Concepts of Modern Natural Sciences,” “Anthropology,” “Philosophy,” and “Ontology.”
She emphasized that an important part of A. Taghiyev’s work is his translation of philosophical classics into the Azerbaijani language for the first time, including Plato’s “The Republic,” Aristotle’s “Politics” and “Metaphysics,” and Hegel’s “Philosophy of Mind,” “The Science of Logic,” and “Philosophy of Right.” Kamala Panahova also mentioned that Arif Taghiyev wrote extensive commentaries and analyses for the works he translated.
At the end of the seminar, Arif Taghiyev expressed his gratitude to the participants. He stated that he is currently continuing his research and is working on a monograph titled “The Soul's Journey to Itself or What is a Human?”
