A training session on “Schema Therapy” was conducted by Shabnam Ashrafzadeh

A training session on “Schema Therapy” was conducted by Shabnam Ashrafzadeh, a part-time lecturer at the Department of Social and Pedagogical Psychology of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology at Baku State University (BSU).
The main goal of the training was to provide students with detailed information about schema therapy, which is an extended form of classical cognitive-behavioral therapy. During the session, it was noted that schema therapy mainly focuses on identifying and transforming negative emotional schemas formed during childhood. This therapeutic approach has proven effective in addressing personality disorders, long-term depression, emotional dysregulation, and post-traumatic issues.
The purpose of the therapy is to help individuals recognize their inner emotional needs and move away from negative schemas, thereby developing healthier behavioral and relational patterns.
This approach plays a significant role in helping individuals understand recurring emotional and relational problems and enables them to cope with these issues in healthier ways. Especially in cases requiring deep psychological analysis, schema therapy fosters a stronger and more supportive bond between therapist and patient, paving the way for long-term change.
