Celebrated 85th Anniversary of the Professor of the Department of Pedagogy
The professor of the Department of Pedagogy at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology of Baku State University (BSU), Majid Abdulla oglu Ismikhanov, has turned 85. At the initiative of the Department of Pedagogy, a jubilee event was held in his honor. The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Rovshan Javadov, the deputy deans, and the department’s academic staff.
In his speech, Rovshan Javadov congratulated the jubilarian and highlighted Majid Ismikhanov’s significant contributions to Azerbaijani education, teacher training, and the development of pedagogical science: “Out of his 85 years of life, Majid teacher has devoted 63 years to education and pedagogical training, with 48 of those years tied to Baku State University. As a talented teacher and productive scholar, Majid Ismikhanov has authored 12 textbooks and teaching manuals, 10 methodological guides, 5 monographs, and over 300 scientific articles.”
Next, the Head of the Department of Pedagogy, Lazifa Gasimova, spoke and emphasized that Professor Majid Ismikhanov’s textbooks and manuals published with official approval in various pedagogical specializations of higher education institutions—such as “Didactics,” “Fundamentals of Pedagogy,” “Pedagogical Ethics,” “Social Pedagogy,” “Foundations of Education,” “Higher School Pedagogy,” “School Management,” “Pedagogy,” “Higher School Pedagogy” (in English), “Explanatory Dictionary of Pedagogical Terms,” “Introduction to the Teaching Profession,” as well as textbooks and teaching materials for Grade 1 Azerbaijani language (as the state language)—are highly valued by specialists and teachers.
She added: “Majid Ismikhanov, a model teacher and dedicated scholar, actively participates in the scientific-pedagogical and public life of Baku State University and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology. He has long served as the scientific secretary of the Scientific-Methodological Council on Pedagogy and Psychology under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as a member of the editorial boards of the ministry’s official journal Azerbaijan School and its supplement Primary School and Preschool Education, as well as a member of the Scientific-Problem Council on Didactics of the Russian Academy of Pedagogical Sciences and the Union of Journalists of the Republic.”
Distinguished teacher of the Department of Pedagogy, Safura Allahverdiyeva, stated that Professor Majid Ismikhanov’s scientific and pedagogical activities have been highly appreciated both at Baku State University and at the Ministry of Science and Education level. She noted that for his effective academic and pedagogical work, Majid teacher was awarded the academic title of professor at BSU, the badge of “Advanced Educator,” the jubilee medals of the 100th anniversary of BSU (1919–2019) and the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (1921–2021), as well as numerous honorary certificates at various levels.
Other staff members of the department also delivered speeches, congratulating Majid Ismikhanov on his jubilee.
