The aim of the seminar was to raise awareness about the growing problem of depression in today’s society, explore its psychological aspects, and enhance students’ theoretical and practical knowledge in this field. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Kamila Kazimova, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Psychology, PhD in Psychology. She provided an in-depth presentation on the clinical and psychological nature of depression, its causes and risk factors, the reasons behind depression in youth, and ways to address and manage it. In her talk, Kamila Kazimova also emphasized the importance of early detection of depression among young people, the need for psychological support and individual therapy, and explained these concepts with practical examples. One of the most important parts of the seminar was the practical segment. During this session, a clinical interview was conducted with a real young patient showing depressive symptoms (identity protected using a mask). The Beck Depression Inventory was used to assess the severity of the patient's depression, and a brief cognitive therapy session was also demonstrated. The seminar showcased scientific and practical approaches for overcoming depression. During the presentation, an engaging discussion took place between the speaker and the participants, who asked questions, exchanged ideas, and discussed real-life experiences. Students had the opportunity to share their personal observations and strengthen their psychological knowledge. As part of the practical segment, the Beck Depression Inventory was also administered to students to assess and evaluate their depression levels. At the end of the seminar, a relaxation session was conducted in groups to promote emotional well-being and reduce psychological tension. This included breathing exercises and mental relaxation techniques, which helped participants feel calm and refreshed. Students shared their personal impressions of the experience. The seminar concluded with group photos taken with trainer Kamila Kazimovaand the participating students.
